The team has 6 dual meets, on 6 consecutive Tuesdays, starting in early or mid June. Three are at Home (Wellsley pool), and three are Away at our opponents' pools. In addition, there is a Mock Meet and the Cary City Invitational Meet.
The following link has the meet schedule for the season, and this is also where you can update your swimmer's meet attendance.
Every year, the coaches run a special practice for all team members; this has various names, including a "timetrial" or a "practice meet" or a "mock meet". It occurs on the Tuesday one week prior to the first regular dual meet. It is not really a meet, but we do line up the Wellsley swimmers in all 6 lanes, heat after heat, to swim against each other and get timed by parent volunteers. It is a chance for the coaches to obtain times for all the swimmers in all the strokes, while giving a taste of racing to the swimmers.
Cary City Meet
A highlight of the season is the Cary City Meet, typically occurring on the last Saturday of the season (just prior to the last Tuesday night dual meet). The coaches make this a special day, with unique decorations, free gifts, candy, cheering and more.
Swim teams throughout Cary compete at the Cary City Meet. The host club alternates each year:
Odd-numbered years: Hosted at Cary Swim Club
Even-numbered years: Hosted at Scottish Hills Recreational Club
While subject to change, typically warm-ups start at 7am for all 10&Under swimmers. 11&Up swimmers start some time after Noon. There will be announcements about the details as the date approaches.
Let's get as many Wellsley Wave swimmers as possible to sign up to attend!
